Mary Xiong's career spanning over two decades reflects her commitment to community care. Her experiences as a CNA illuminated the essential need for reliable in-home care services. Mary empathizes with the fear of abandonment among those in need, especially within her immediate community, recognizing their longing for nurturing support from familiar and trusted individuals. At the same time, there is concern for unemployment if children and/or trusted friends choose to stay at home to care for their loved ones. With this understanding, Sunshine Care, Inc. was established in 2012.
Like many first-generation Hmong American’s, the results of the Vietnam war brought her to America. Despite many adversities, Mary remained undeterred in her pursuit of education and in creating a nurturing home for herself and her family. Her journey led her to creating Sunshine Care, Inc., a family-owned and operated agency, founded by herself and sister, Shoua Vue and brother-in-law, Songlue Vue. Mary envisioned her agency to embody warmth, radiate love and extend compassion to her clients, encompassing all the values she holds dear.
Mary's vision extends beyond the care of her current and potential clients; she also strives to establish her agency as a trusted employer within her community. Her and her team, hires, orientates and trains her clients’ choice of personal care worker (PCW) to provide the care they need and ensures that the PCW is up to date by requiring quarterly assessments, home visits (every 60 days) and yearly workshops.
Her agency has made a lasting impact on numerous families across 11 counties in Wisconsin. Mary's goal is to remain a dependable and trusted source for in-home personal care, continuing to serve her community with dedication and compassion.
